Fuzzy Modeling Gene-Expression Data From Nanostring Technology

A significant current trend in disease diagnostic decisions is based on gene expression analysis, i.e., the levels in the organism, of substances produced from gene translation. Such diagnostic decisions often depends on complex gene-expression patterns. This project intends to (1) implement, adapt, and extend a computational approach for extracting such patterns and (2) apply it to improve diagnostic decisions and classification of acute leukaemias and lymphoproliferative syndromes (LPSs). The data source is constituted by a novel nanotechnology-based test called Nanostring that is currently used at the Geneva University Hospital (our project partner).
